Drama as Lagos, Ogun IRS battle for tax collection from Laycon after N85m BBNaija win

The Internal Revenue Service of Lagos State and its Ogun State counterpart have reminded Olamilekan Agbeleshe popularly known as Laycon, who emerged winner of the 2020 lockdown edition of the Big Brother Nigeria reality TV show, that they’re waiting to receive his tax.

The LIRS made this known via it’s Twitter handle while congratulating Laycon over his victory.

It tweeted “Congratulations @itsLaycon winner @BBNaija Lockdown edition. More wins!! We look forward to seeing you in Y2021 as you #payyourtax.”

But shortly after the Lagos State IRS made the tweet, the Ogun State IRS tweeted a similar message encouraging the rapper to pay his tax to Ogun IRS.

It tweeted “The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service is delighted to congratulate one of our own in the State, Olamilekan Agbelesebioba, AKA @itsLaycon for emerging winner of @BBNaija Lockdown. We look forward to having a robust relationship with you in year 2021 as you pay your tax.”

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, had earlier described Laycon as a pacesetter, saying his victory was aptly a confirmation of his brilliance.

For emerging winner of the BBNaija season 5 lockdown edition, the 26-year-old Laycon got N30m in cash, and received various gifts and incentives valued at N55m, totaling N85m.

The winnings include an all-expense-paid trip to Dubai for two, a two-bedroom apartment, a Sport Utility Vehicle from Innoson Motors, a Scanfrost electronic makeover, one year supply of Pepsi Cola, one year supply of Munch It and Indomie noodles, and VIP tickets to watch the European Champions League final.

The celebrity is yet to respond to the tax demand by both states.
