Don’t sell your conscience for bag of rice – NOA tells voters

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Anambra state has urged youths in the state not to sell their consciences by accepting any form of gratification ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The Director, Bar. Charles Nworji made the appeal in Ekwulobia during the Anambra South Senatorial zone townhall meeting organised by Catch them young Community Initiative (CATYCOI).

Nworji, represented by the Aguata Local Government Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer, Chinwenite Ezezue, also warned those without Permanent Votes Cards (PVC) to steer clear of voting areas.

He said, “Don’t sell your consciences by receiving bags of rice just for one to rule for four years.

“If there is no Governor in the state because of non conduct of the election the people will suffer it more. It will also mean that only in Anambra out of the 36 states that there will not be Governor.”

He assured there was no cause for alam as security had been beefed up to contain any unforeseen circumstances.

“The Commissioner of Police has assured the citizens that every voter must be protected that day.

“Those who have no Permanent Votes Cards have no business being at the polling both on the election day,” he said.

Earlier, Executive Director, CATYCOI, Nonso Orakwue said that the goal of the body was to promote youths and government policies.

“We extend our tentacles to the youths as our target to keep them busy and self reliant. That is why we are here to explain why they should not engage in political thuggery come November 6,” he said.
