PAKISTAN: Custom authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle US, German and Australian made arms at Torkham border on Tuesday.
The Daily Vendor Newspaper gathered that the truck conveying the arms was taken into custody.
Custom official Saddiq Akbar disclosed that they had prior information that arms could be smuggled from Afghanistan via Torkham border. He said customs authorities constituted a team who stopped a truck loaded with fresh vegetables when entered into Pakistan.
During search of hidden cavities in the truck, custom officials recovered 11 USA, German an Australian made pistols, 3 night vision binoculars, Kalashinlove parts and bullets. According to the official the seazed arms worth was in millions in the open market.
The driver, according to custom official, fled from the scene before he could be arrested.
