Curfew: Tension in Anambra as man crushed to death running away from Police

There is palpable tension in Enugu Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra state following the alleged killing of a young man on Wednesday night.

The deceased was allegedly knocked down by commercial tricycle operator while being chased in the area by a policeman, one Okeke, described as a terror in the Division.

The DAILY VENDOR learnt that there are plans by youths of the area to attack Nimo Divisional Police Station to avenge death of their fellow youth.

There was also restriction of vehicular movement along the road, with burn fire everywhere.

A resident of the area who identified himself as Kenneth said, “the boy should be the only son of his mother. He was killed last night while running from police.

“I understand that the Nimo Community want the concerned police transferred. Police have mobilized since last night to ward off any attack.”

Another witness, who preferred anonymity said, “I was there when it all started unfolding. Police team was there too, firing shots into the air to scare the youths away but they remained adamant and the police scurried away.

“When I left the place, the youths were gathering used tyres.”
