Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is the capital of India’s West Bengal state. Kolkata has the lowest crime rate among the 19 major cities of the country. In addition, while the number of crimes has increased in many other cities of the country from 2016 to 2020, the number has decreased in the case of Kolkata.

The Daily Vendor Newspaper learnt that the information was contained in a report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), which was released in Delhi on Tuesday.

According to one of the upcoming lady advocate Shreyasi Ray “under our current Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, initially we may have had a rough time during her first stint in 2011 as there was a sense that law and order was not so much under her control but she is enough mature now in her third term and the city has been largely peaceful despite few of the incidence of violence in other parts of Bengal. The city is safe and we have quality schools and colleges, medical facilities. A lot has transmitted in Kolkata after 2011 Mamata Banerjee’s takes over. We can believe our Police Force and specially the cultured citizens of the city.

Kolkata – City of Joy, where the old meets the new, where century intersect and coexist- again became the safest city in India. We are proud of Kolkata”.
