Anambra court strikes out Catholic priest, lawyer’s appeal against Police

Anambra State High Court, Orumba South Judicial Division, sitting in Umunze, presided over by Hon. Justice Jude Obiora, has struck out an appeal filed by Rev. Fr. Ejike Nwankwo and his lawyer Bar. Chukwu Idenyi, earlier arraigned by Police in the state.

The appeal followed criminal trial of the duo at the Chief Magistrate Court Umunze, lodged against them by Mrs. Nnenna Ezenwa, a businesswoman over alleged offences of assault, malicious damage and stealing.

The duo however pleaded not guilty to the 12-count charges appealed against their criminal trial in Suit No. HOS/1CA/2022, Rev. Father Ejike Nwankwo, Barr.Chukwu Kingsley Idenyi, Applicant. Commissioner of Police Anambra State, Respondent.

The presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Jude Obiora, struck out the appeal after hearing the parties to the suit, Emmanuel Osunkwo, Esq for the first Applicant, C. K Idenyi Esq, for the 2nd Applicant in person and P.A Ogele Esq for the Respondent.

“This appeal is hereby struck out, cist of N10,000.00 is hereby awarded against each of the Applicants in favour of the Respondent.

“The said cost must be paid to the Respondent before any other or further steps is taken in this matter,” he said.
