Councillor beaten to a pulp, one shot dead as PDP meeting turns sour in Enugu

One person was shot dead Saturday evening at the end of a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu South Local Government Area.

This is even as the Councillor representing Nenwe Ward 1 in Aninri Local Government was reportedly attacked and beaten to a pulp at a similar meeting in the Council Area.

Details of what caused the shooting in Enugu South as well as the identity of the victim was yet to be ascertained at press time.
The Enugu South Council Chairman Hon Monday Eneh who spoke to Everyday News on phone confirmed that someone was shot dead.

He however said the meeting had ended and he had left the venue when the news got to him.

He argued that the shooting had nothing to do with the party meeting suggesting that it could be part an on going cult war in the area.

Our search reveals that the shooting was cult related even though the incident happened in front of the party office.

Unconfirmed report claims the victim had attended the PDP meeting.

Name of the Nenwe Councillor and why he was attacked at the meeting were not yet confirmed as at the time of filing this report.
