Coronavirus hits Anambra, as NCDC confirms 17 new cases

Report from Anambra state indicates that the state has recorded the COVID-19 case for the first time.

This was contained in a statement released in a tweeter handle by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The agency has confirmed 17 new more cases as at about 9:30pm, making it a toll 305 cases while 58 have been discharged, seven have died.

THE DAILY VENDOR correspondent, gathered that  the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr Don Adinuba noted that the index case apparently entered the state before the boundaries were closed about two weeks ago.

The commissioner has equally urged residents to maintain personal hygiene while observing the regulations offered by the government and health experts on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People must observe social distancing because the easiest way to contract the virus is by coming near a person, touching him or her.”

Adinuba also informed that the state has begun tracing persons who may have come in contact with the patient.

A breakdown of the cases are eight in Lagos; three in Katsina; two in the federal capital territory (FCT); and one each in Niger, Kaduna, Anambra and Ondo.

Meanwhile, the governor of Anambra state, Dr Willie Obiano will today 11th April 2020, by 10am address the public on the issue.
