Civil servants without proof of vaccination barred from federal secretariat, Abuja

Following the warning by the Boss Mustapha-led presidential steering committee on COVID-19 in October that civil servants without proof of vaccination and negative PCR tests would not be allowed to access government buildings from December 1, 2021, Civil servants and the general public were today denied access to government buildings for failing to produce their vaccination tests.

While those who showed proof of vaccination and negative PCR tests were allowed entry, those who failed to produce proof are currently being denied entry into government buildings in Abuja.

The Daily Vendor Newspaper recalled that In October 2021, the Boss Mustapha-led committee had announced that civil servants without proof of vaccination and negative PCR tests would not be allowed to access any government buildings from December 1.

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria had however asked the Federal Government to extend till March next year, today’s deadline for the compulsory vaccination of civil servants, a move which the PSC had described as “impossible”.

The latest development is coming hours after Nigeria reported three cases of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease in the country.
