The lawmaker representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Obinna Chidoka, on Friday, visited Mater Amabilis All Girls Catholic Secondary School, Umuoji, Idemili North Local Goverment Area of Anambra State.
The proactive lawmaker during the visit commissioned the Solar Powered Street Lights he installed in the entire corners of the school.
On ground to receive the lawmaker was the school Manager, Reverend Father Francis Chikwado Onwuchulum. He expressed deep gratitude and applauded the lawmaker for the intervention and noted the ripple effects this uncommon gesture has on the students and entire school community.
Fr Francis who walked Chidoka round the expansive learning environment housing about 1000 students and 100 teachers noted that the Mater Amabilis Catholic School is over 60 years old.
He noted how timely this intervention came and the invaluable benefits it has brought to the school.
Fr. Francis recalled the sad memory of how hoodlums invaded the school at night to cart away most valuables, including computers. laboratory equipment etc. He however thanked Chidoka for putting an end to the dark area by equipping the school with street lights installed around the corners of the school for security reasons and to aid in longer reading hours at night.
Speaking on behalf of the students of the school, Ms Chidimma Cynthia Onwuekwe, who won the latest edition of the school’s beauty pageant conveyed the students appreciation to the lawmaker for lighting up the entire corners of their school and providing public utilities for his constituents based on their needs and priority.
The visibly excited Ms Onwuekwe prayed for Chidoka’s victory in the February 25 National Assembly election and pledged the students’ support and prayers.
In his address, Hon. Chidoka, a silent achiever said the importance of quality education can not be over emphasized. He encouraged the students to always be of good behavior. Additionally, he advised them to commit to acquiring good education which he emphasized would prepare them to not just be good wives and mothers but great women in the society in the future.
Ife Idemili said providing and attracting infrastructural development to his Constituency gives him great joy.
He said he is happy that he was able to lit up the entire school to help enhance security and learning in the school.
Chidoka promised to do much more for Idemili when re-elected into the National Assembly.
Earlier in his speech the ranking and highly experienced lawmaker lauded Fr Francis and the entire staff and management of the school for what he described as reputable managerial skills.
