Bungoma County Teams off to Winnings Start in Embu KICOSCA

Bungoma county government teams began their games on a winning note as Kenya Inter Counties Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA), entered day three in Embu county. 

Bungoma’s Basketball Men and Women got off to a good start by humbling the host Embu county in their opening matches, at Embu University grounds.  Men avenged their early loss to Kisumu County in their first match of the tournament by beating Governor Martin Wambora’s men 26-20 and Bungoma Women handing them identical defeat of 22- 17 in hotly contested matches.

Patrick Opiyo from the Department of Health led the way for Bungoma men, scoring 18 points. It is his third KICOSCA tournament playing for Bungoma consecutively with Sirengo Kennedy, Kevin Murumba, Derrick Nalubi, Brian Masibayi, John Wekesa, Remmy Barmasai, Andrew Sore and Yusuf Nduguyu.

After the two matches, Bungoma’s Basketball Team Manager, Jacob Junior said he was impressed with the performance of his teams.

 “This one feels good because we’ve worked so hard for it. After losing our first match, we came together so fast — it was beautiful to see, it was beautiful to be a part of.”

In other Matches played today, Bungoma’s football team qualified for quarter finals after edging out stubborn Bomet  2 -0. The Volleyball Men’s team thumbed Nyeri county 3 sets to nil. 

In the borrowed cultural category, Bungoma County Gisu dance troupe bagged the first medal for the county after scooping second best position after Nairobi.
