One person lost his life while another sustained serious in a ghastly motor accident along Awka-Enugu expressway, Anambra state.
The accident which occurred around 3.19 pm, near Government House, Awka involved red colored Toyota Avalon.
THE DAILY VENDOR gathered that the driver of the vehicle who was on top speed suddenly lost control, and the vehicle summersaulted.
Confirming the incident, Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Pascal Anigbo, blamed the accident on overspeeding.
He said one death was recorded in the incident.
He said, “At about 3.19 pm today Monday 18 May, 2020 a fatal lone Road Traffic Crash (RTC) was recorded near Government House, Awka along Awka-Enugu expressway.
“The vehicle involved was a red colored Toyota Avalon with registration number AKD69AFB. Two(2) male adults were involved in the crash, which was reportedly caused by over-speeding.
“One death was recorded. The dead victim was taken to the morgue by the Red Cross Society.
“FRSC operatives are on ground ensuring free flow of traffic and clearing of obstruction caused by the vehicle which tumbled. The Fire Service are also present to avert possible fire outbreak.
“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi condole with the family of the dead. He admonishes motorists to always drive with common sense speed limits and within stipulated speed limits, especially within built-up areas.”
