BREAKING: Embezzlement of Funds: Court martial orders ex-GOC Otiki’s dismissal

The former General Officer Commanding , 8 Brigade Sokoto Major General Hakeem Otiki is recommended for dismissal from the military.

The Court Martial set up by the Nigerian Army to try the former GOC recommended his dismissal from service “with disgrace and dishonour” for embezzlement.

The court martial headed by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Army, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun found Otiki guilty of all five counts charges leveled against him.

In addition the panel ordered that all monies totaling N135.8million, $6,600 recovered by the Special Investigation Bureau be returned to the coffers of the Nigerian Army.

After he was found guilty disobedience to service orders, missing fund and theft of public property, among others, the court thereafter demoted him to Brig. General with a severe reprimand.

The DAILY VENDOR NEWS reports that the sentence which was delivered on Monday 15th June in the night is still subject to confirmation by the Army Council.
