The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has on Sunday evening visited the former governor of Abia state and the current Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in his residence at Queen Elizabeth Road, Asokoro, Abuja.
It was learnt that on arrival, the governor was received by Kalu in company with his wife.
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, governor is visiting Kalu who is an All Progressives Congress APC Senator for the first time since he became Governor of Benue State.
Reason for Ortom’s visit to Kalu is yet to be disclosed as they went into a closed door meeting upon the governor’s arrival.
The Daily Vendor Newspaper had reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has given an interim order, freezing all the bank accounts of Benue State government maintained in some banks following the state government’s inability to repay the N333 million loan it took in 2008.
The order was given by Justice Inyang Ekwo, following an ex-parte motion brought by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), also directed that the bank accounts of HPPS Multilink Services Ltd be frozen pending the hearing and the determination of the substantive suit.
While the claimant is AMCON, the company and the state government are 1st and 2nd respondents respectively.
