BREAKING: Akeredolu Wins Ondo APC Governorship Primary

Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Aketedolu, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC), primary, thus clinching the party’s ticket for the October 10, governorship election in his state.

Akeredolu defeated seven other contestants after four other aspirants earlier stepped down to support his candidacy.

The four aspirants that stepped down for Akeredolu were Mr Ife Oyedele, Mr Jimmy Odinmayo, Mr Nathaniel Ojutelegan and Mr Olusegun Abraham.

There were tight security provided for the primary by Police Commands from Kogi and Ondo States, officers from the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State announced that, ‘Aketi’, as fondly called, won in all the 18 local governments of the state.

Details of votes scored by the contestants as announced by Governor Bello said Akeredolu scored 2,725 votes, while Oke came second with 262 votes.

Other results are; Mr Isaacs Kekemeke (19), Iji Olusola (9), Adelami Olayide (4) Akinseyinwa Awodeyi (1).
