Be security conscious while discharging your duties – FRSC boss urges Special Marshal

…urges members of the FRSC Special Marshal to increase their presence and activities in the highway

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Anambra State Command, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi has urged members of the Special Marshal to increase their presence and activities in the highway in order to accomplish at least fifteen percent reduction in road traffic fatality.

He also challenged them to be security conscious in the face of discharging their duties.

Irelewuyi gave the charge while presenting a paper titled “Responsibilities of the Special Marshal in the face of New Administration”, during the 2022 Special Marshal workshop themed” The responsibility of Special Marshal in the face of a new Administration in the Corps”.

Highlighting the responsibilities of the Special Marshals, the Vision and mission of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC boss further charged them to sustain the synergy between them and uniformed Marshals for increased positive outcome.

Earlier, State Coordinator, Special Marshal, Mr Patrick Esumai said the vision of the Corps which is to eradicate road traffic crashes and provide conducive environments for road users should be paramount in the Minds of the Special Marshal Members.

He stressed that road safety is everyone’s responsibility, calling for support of the Special Marshal activities and policies especially at this Yuletide period by obeying all road laws, rules and regulations.

The State Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng appreciating the diligence and commitment of the Special Marshal to humanity.

Echeng, represented by State Traffic Officer, CSP Nora Effiong, commended the existing synergy between the Nigerian Police Force and the Special Marshal and called for its sustainability. 

In his paper presentation entitled “Sustaining Special Marshal operations in the face of National Security”, Mr Samuel Ifedioramma reminded the Marshals that they are a volunteered arm of FRSC backed up by the law.

He urged them to uphold a proven integrity of the Corps and not to be demoralized rather they should device active measures by being security conscious at all times.

Some of the participants, Chief Anene Onyiliegbe and the State PRO NDLEA Mr Christopher Dabo, described the workshop as an eye-opener, calling on road users to  control themselves and mind in order to reduce road crashes.

The Workshop held at all Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, attracted sister agencies namely Nigerian Security Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Police Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) among others.
