B R E A K I N G: Nigeria’s Joshua Defeats Mexican Ruiz, Reclaims Titles

Nigeria’s own Anthony Joshua on Saturday defeated Mexican Andy Ruiz at the Diriyah Arena, Saudi Arabia to reclaim his IBF, WBA and WBO titles.

Joshua had lost the titles to Ruiz in a shocking defeat in New York.

The Mexican gained more momentum during the round nine, made more attempts to pin the former world champion. Joshua also dealt him some heavy punches that shook him, but Ruiz stood strong.

Joshua looked sharper in round 10. He deals Ruiz some more heavy punches, but still couldn’t get that decisive punch to give him the edge in round ten. Round 10 looked more like a draw as both were able to land good punches.

Back in Nigeria, over a 1000 fans stormed the family compound of Anthony Joshua in Sagamu, Ogun State to watch his fight.

According to report, the Baba Josh Memorial hall was filled to the brim, and large crowd were also seen outside the hall.

The mammoth crowd took over Cinema Street, where the hall is located causing a slow movement of vehicles on both sides of the road.

While some fans sat on the fences of nearby buildings, others climbed vehicles.

Excitement and Celebration took over the whole street after Joshua’s victory.

With this victory, Joshua has joined great boxers such as Muhammad Ali, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield on the list of heavyweights to reclaim world titles. Dominating from the outset, Joshua won by margins of 118-110 on two scorecards with the third judge making it 119-109.
