LAFIA- Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State on Saturday revealed that the army have killed three and arrested nine others, as well as recovered four AK 47 guns from suspected killers of the All Progressive Congress (APC) chairman, who was murdered on Sunday, one kilometer away from his residence.
Governor Sule disclosed this while he hosted the National Leadership of Trade Union Congress, at government house Lafia.
He re-assured that the state still remains safe, in spite of some security challenges, which led to the kidnap and murder of the state APC chairman.
Sule said security had been heightened across the state,since the murder of the late Chief Philip Tatari Shekwo, as combined military operation is ongoing to further rid the state of criminal elements.
According to the Governor, “the issue of security in the state is not as bad as it’s being projected; though it was terrible for the state chairman of the ruling party to be murdered, notwithstanding.”
“Three suspects, linked to the murder of the state APC chairman, were early morning on Friday, killed by military operatives in Loko, with 9 other suspects also linked to the murder of the late Chief Shekwo, arrested.
“The security operatives recovered four number of AK47 from the suspects killed in Loko as the military is not taking it lightly with these criminals,” he said.
He emphasis that government has taken adequate steps to maintain security in the state.
The governor further revealed that the arrest of the 9 suspect followed an intense pursuit of the kidnappers of the sibling of a principal member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly by a combined security operatives,as the kidnappers were forced to abandon their victim, who has since regained his freedom.
He however reiterated his administration, fight insecurity added that security is too expensive, unless the state lacks the resources.
