The president of Imo General Assembly (IGA) in Nnewi and environs, Chief Chinedu Igwe on Thursday criticized Sen Hope Uzodinma for opting out of the anti-open grazing stance agreed upon by the Southern governors.

Chief Igwe who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Suzuki Don Investment Company declared categorically that the development would not be a good omen for the people of Imo State.

He noted that the people of the state would be happy to associate with their kiths and kins in the Southern part of the country who have made their stance known on open grazing.

“Opting out of the anti-open grazing agreement reached by the governors in the Southern Nigeria is not in the best interest of our people. The nefarious activities of the killer Fulani herdsdmen are known to all, so how can our own governor turn his back on the other forward looking governors in the south who mean well for their people.

“Gov Uzodinma should wake up to his responsibility as the governor of Imo State, to whom much is given, much is expected, he struggled hard to become the governor, he should strive to write his name in gold in the sand of time, not minding the manner with which he became the governor.” He said.

On the alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to “take’ Anambra State in the November 6 governorship election, Chief Igwe urged Ndi Anambra to take their destiny into their hands by not going to sleep when they are supposed to be awake.

“Anambra State is peculiar and the experiment that worked in Imo may not work here. Infact I foresee danger if the federal government government decided to impose APC on the people. There are so many political bigwigs in Anambra and the alleged plan to take the state will not be easy as it was in Imo.

“Even the so called take over of Imo State cannot be said to be successful because the security situation of the state has nose dived since Sen Hope Uzodinma came on board which I believe is a kind of revolt against the imposition.

“Imo people are running away from the state now because of insecurity and poor road network, I was spending less than one hour to get to my village from Owerri but now it takes almost four hours to access my village from the capital. If people from Imo are not going back home, do you think any serious investor will consider Imo State?” Chief Igwe quipped.

He appealed to President Muhamadu Buhari not to interfere in with the election process in the November 6 Anambra governorship election, so that the people can freely elect a governor of their choice.
