…the Anglican priest had insisted he received a revelation to propagate polygamy as a way to stem immorality
A priest, Rev Barr Ogbuchukwu Makuo Lotanna, who resigned from the Anglican Church to open a ministry to propagate polygamy has been fully restored.
The development which was disclosed in a statement by chaplain to Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt Rev Ndubuisi Obi, said Lotana is now free to function fully as a Clergyman in the Diocese.
The priest had upon his resignation September last year, insisted that he received a revelation to propagate polygamy as a way to stem immorality.
But three months later, Lotana apologised for his actions, describing the polygamy revelation as ill conceived, and should be discountenanced.
“I have since pledged to give a full and undivided attention to all that God has called me to do as a priest in obedience to the instituted authority of the Church.
“I have understood that for any program(s) to achieve sexual purity, it must of necessity be that which should build the CHURCH OF CHRIST and should be accepted by her. And I can not be numbered among those fighting the Church.
“I have also withdrawn and DELETED all the videos and messages I have preached or posted on the subject from all my social media handles and have CLOSED all the channels,” he wrote.
But in a statement by the Bishop’s chaplain, the church said every restriction against the cleric has been lifted.
The statement reads, “Please be informed that our brother, Rev Barr. Makuochukwu Ogbuchukwu has been fully restored and every restriction lifted.
“He is therefore now free to function fully as a Clergyman in our Diocese in every respect.
“We appreciate our Bishop, the Rt Rev Ndubuisi Obi for his benevolence and fatherly disposition. May God continue to bless him and his episcopacy in Jesus name Amen.”
