The Anambra State’s Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, on Saturday, 20th February, 2021 at Unizik Temporary Site Junction, Awka, apprehended two notorious begging syndicates using under age children to seek for alms.

The two women from Nasarawa and Enugu States, with six children, four girls and two boys, were among some beggers arrested at Nnewi and Awka, in December 2020, by a team led by the Honorable Commissioner, they were then, counseled, given food items and were also provided with some amount of money to start a new life.

Lady Mezue in her effort to ensure they were successfully reintergrated into the society, placed a call to her Nasarawa state counterpart who promised to provide the woman with job and care for her children.

Unfortunately, these repeat offenders quickly after receiving assistance from the Honorable Commissioner, returned to Anambra state and continued with their nafarious activities, before luck ran out on them, leading to their re-arrest by the Honorable Commissioner.
