Just In: Anambra to go after tax defaulters on Tuesday

Anambra State government said it would commence massive enforcement of tax compliance in the State from Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

The State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) disclosed this in a statement through its Head, Taxpayer Education and Enlightenment Team, Sylvia Tochukwu-Ngige

It urged commercial Motorcycle riders (Okada), tricycle operators (Keke) and bus drivers operating in the State yet to be enumerated to go for enumeration and pay the levies as agreed by their union and the government.

It also advised those yet to pay their taxes and levies to do so immediately, warning that refusal to pay would have themselves to blame.

The statement reads, “The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AiRS) wishes to inform the citizens of Anambra State that from Tuesday next week, September 13, 2022, to be precise, there will be massive enforcement of Tax compliance in Anambra State.

“By this announcement, all Commercial Motorcycle riders (Okada), Tricycle operators (Keke) and Bus drivers operating in Anambra State yet to be enunerated should go for enumeration and pay the levies as agreed by their union and the Anambra State government.

“Those yet to pay their taxes and levies to Anambra State Government are by this announcement advised to do so, immediately. Refusal to pay is against the law.

“Remember, don’t pay cash to anybody as the Anambra State government has not authorized anyone to collect taxes and levies for the government. Anyone doing that is looking for serious trouble. Pay your taxes and levies to the government through the Bank or POS, using your Anambra State Identity Number (ASIN).
