Anambra sacks market leadership, appoints new exco

Anambra State Government has reportedly sacked the caretaker committee of Ogbaru Relief (Main) market, Ogbaru Local Government Area, led by Chief Ogbogu Nwanodi and installed a new caretaker committee led by former chairman of the market, Chief Ndubisi Ochiogu.

Handing over the market to the new leadership, Chief Ogbogu said that the incoming chairman of the market was his boss, stating that he is still loyal to him and will support him towards moving the market forward.

God-father to the new chairman, Chief Joseph Ukeje Ejison, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the new chairman when he was the executive chairman of the market adding that he would perform more than he did earlier.

He said, “Chief Ochiogu, my son, was installed in the market by former Governor Willie Obiano to develop the market and which he did but when Governor Soludo came on board, enemies of progress gossipped and petitioned against him to Soludo and he was removed.

“We thank Soludo for looking into the matter and found out that the hands of Ochiogu are clean and reinstated him to continue in his infrastructural development of the market.

“You people will give him massive support and ensure that after his tenure in the market, only a person with handwork will be elected. Don’t elect one who is not doing any business.”

Responding, Ochiogu paid glowing tribute to Chief Ukeje Ejison, adding that he is his god-father who installed him on the seat as the chairman through Governor Soludo.

“Fellow traders, this man here is my god-father and after God he is my father. Without him I can’t be on this seat. He feels that with me the lost glory of the market will be restored and that was why I ensured the infrastructural development of the market.

“Most of the infrastructures in the market were installed by me and I hope to do more than I have done when I was the executive chairman of the market. What I need is your support and the market will be taken to the next level,” he pleaded.

Contributing, former lawmaker in the State, Hon. Linus Ezenwamma, said it was obvious that what they did to Ochiogu was wrong and so the governor brought him back as chairman.
