Anambra reintroduces handcraft in schools

Anambra State Government has re-introduced handcraft and skills acquisition in schools across the state starting from next academic session.

The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh disclosed this while addressing Head Teachers during an academic retreat, at ASUBEB Hall, Awka.

She tasked the Head Teachers to ensure the implementation of the order as the state wants to raise pupils, who will contribute positively to the growth of the state by learning skills that will help them to become self-reliant on leaving the four walls of the school.

She expressed confidence that all primary schools in the state would have been captured by the state biometrics team and their data uploaded in the biometric portal on or before the end of September this year.

In his remark, Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon. Ejike Okechukwu assured the Head Teachers of better days while commending the teachers’ tenacity and doggedness in educating Anambra students.

Assistant Chairman, Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria, APSHON, Mrs. Vivian Nwankwo lauded government’s efforts in restructuring the educational sector.
