Anambra Police Commissioner rescues stranded 17-yr-old mother, offsets hospital bill

It was an exciting moment yesterday in Awka, Anambra State capital as the Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, CP John B. Abang, fdc paid N140,000 as the hospital bill of a 17 years old girl who was delivered of a baby boy.

THE DAILY VENDOR correspondent gathered that the 17 years old who received help from the commissioner was into the business of Orange hawking as means of making a living when she was raped and impregnated in the process.

Our correspondent also learnt that after the incidence, she had to carry the pregnancy for nine months until she was admitted to Everest Hospital, Opposite CPS, High Court Road Awka where she gave birth to a baby boy.

But following her inability to settle her hospital bill after delivery through Cesarean Operation, a foundation made this known to the public to solicit for help.

The state’s Police Commissioner on receiving the information through his Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed asked the foundation (Careless Whispers Foundation) to come for the money.

“The Commissioner of police Anambra command, CP John Abang, fdc, has decided to offset the bill. In view of the foregoing, kindly come to my office tomorrow morning and collect the cash sum of #140,000 pls,” the PPRO informed.

However, the founder of Caring and Helpline Foundation (CHLF), aka Careless Whispers, Prince Emeka Kalu, Magic fingers of ABS Radio/Tv Awka, thanked the commissioner for his benevolence.
