ANAMBRA: One escapes death as another vehicle crashes along Agulu Lake

The driver of a Mercedes Benz 608 truck had reportedly escaped death on Monday evening when the vehicle’s brakes failed along the Agulu Lake axis of the Ekwulobia – Amawbia road in Anambra State.

Confirming the incident to The DAILY VENDOR, the Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, RC Pascal A. Anigbo said the accident happened at about 5:25pm, but added that no life was lost.

Anigbo attributed the crash to brake failure, and said operatives of the FRSC were on ground to ease traffic congestion caused by the crash, while ensuring the vehicle was removed.

“At about 5.25pm today Monday 18 May, 2020 a Mercedes Benz 608 with registration number UMZ219ZS, was involved in a Road Traffic Crash (RTC), caused by brake failure,” Anigbo said.

“Only one adult male was involved in the crash. No injury and no death recorded. FRSC operatives controlled traffic and ensured the removal of the truck.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi stresses on the importance of ensuring that vehicles are checked and serviced regularly, with particular interest in the braking systems, to prevent avoidable road mishaps.”
