Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Anambra state chapter yesterday made history following the election of new leaders through virtual technology.
The election which saw the emergence of eight officers, was heralded by the body’s Annual General Meeting which was also virtually conducted.
Speaking after the election, the new Chairman, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the poll, despite few imperfections.
He thanked the past administrations, particularly the outgoing executive led by Dr. Emmanuel Monago for the strong foundations they laid, pledging to build on them to move the association forward.
Onyekwelu equally commended the state governor, Willie Obiano for graciously granting them the acquisition of a parcel of land for the proposed Secretariat to incorporate a Cancer Treatment and Research Center.
He however appealed to him to redeem his N10million pledge for the project to enable the body commence the construction soonest.
Earlier in his handover note, the immediate past Chairman, Dr. Emmanuel Monago expressed confidence on the ability of his successor to deliver on his mandate, calling for maximum support from members.
