Anambra govt never asked tricycle operators to pay N875

Anambra State government says it has not asked tricycle operators in the State to pay N875 as erroneously published in some sections of the media.

The true position of the State government is that every tricycle operator in the State should pay N15000 monthly.

Senior Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Internally Generated Revenue, Hon Isaac Chimereze had while addressing members of tricycle operators in Awka recently said that about 15,000 of the membership of the Tricycle Operators Association of Nigeria (TOAN)  have so far been registered under the Governor Chukwuma Soludo-led tax regime.

He assured tricycle operators of guaranteed security, improved welfare, construction and rehabilitation of all bad portions of roads within the capital and other areas to ease movement.

He said tricycle operators were to pay  N15, 000 in one full-swoop per month, which amounts to N600 daily and not N875.

He said, “operators should reciprocate the gesture of the state government in issuing operational documents to the leadership of tricycle operators in order to ensure law and order.

“Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well; don’t fall victim of violation of established law and order.”

The State Vice chairman of TOAN, Hon. Mark Onykwene said the essence of the meeting was to enable members know their stand on government policies and programmes.

He said the association supported Soludo during his election campaign so he could bring solution, including removal of all illegal revenue collection, touts, multiple taxations and problem of harassment.

He urged his members to always stick to their routes and take necessary steps to register with the government for proper identification.
