Anambra government sets up COVID 19 Task Force in 21 LGAs

Anambra state Government has set up a COVID 19 Task Force in each of the twenty-one local government areas in the state for the second phase of community searching

A statement released and signed by the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment C. Don Adinuba, said that each Task Force will be headed by the Chairman of the Transition Committee, and members will comprise the Health Officer, Information Officer, Disease and Surveillance Officer and the Ministry of Health Covid 19 Laision Officer in the Local Government Area.

It added that the government has also decided to set up a COVID 19 Task
Force in each of the three hundred and twenty-six wards in the state and members will be the Ministry of Health Liaison Officer, the Officer in charge of the main Primary Healthcare in the ward, the Youth Leader in the Ward, the Woman Leader in the ward, the Development Ward Chairman and will be headed by the Councilor of the ward.

The release further stated that both Task Forces are saddled with the responsibility of informing the grassroots on the dangers of COVID 19 and how to prevent the spread of the virus.

The release also enjoined members of various communities to provide relevant information to the Task Force in the Local Government Areas and in the three hundred and twenty-six wards in Anambra State.

The statement also reads “relevant information including the presence of strangers in their midst, the return of persons who have in the last two weeks been to states with high incidences of the coronavirus pandemic and individuals who exhibit such COVID 19 symptoms as dry cough, constant sneezing and shortness of breath which should be reported to their community leaders like Town Union Presidents General and Traditional Rulers”.

The release states that some people are already cooperating with the authorities in this respect as the travel history of the second COVID 19 case was provided by vigilant and patriotic members of his
community who knew he travelled to Kano towards the end of April and returned secretly to his base in the Awka Capital Territory on May sixth, 2020.
