Anambra Deputy Governor’s Aides deny him, reject APC

Following the recent cross-carpeting of the Deputy Governor of Anambra state Dr. Nkem Okeke, from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), some senior aides attached to his office have refused to leave the party with him.

The Daily Vendor Newspaper learnt that the aides of the Deputy governor have restated their loyalty to the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his party, APGA.

Barely one month to the Anambra governorship election, Dr. Okeke in a shocking move on Wednesday dumped the party on whose platform he became the deputy governor and moved to the APC after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.

But his senior aides who spoke to journalists at the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor, Mr. Primus Odili, expressed shock over the defection of their boss.

According to them, they only heard the news of their boss’s defection on social media.

The aides consist of Senior Special Assistant on General Duties, Dr. Charles Nwufo, Special Assistant on Media, Mrs. Stella Igboka, Special Assistants on Legal, Barrister Bath Okafor and Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Captain Chizor Obierika.

Nwufo said: “The Deputy Governor, Dr. Okeke never discussed or mentioned the move to his aides. I wonder why someone who has benefited so much from Governor Willie Obiano will defect to a political party that is struggling to have a ground in the state.”

He however pledged his continuous support to the APGA leadership.

On her part, Igboka said “The successes and achievements recorded by Governor Willie Obiano is immeasurable and I vow to finish with APGA which shared the vision and hope of Ndị Igbo.”

In their reactions, Okafor and Obierika described the move as selfish and a spite to them as it clearly showed that they were never valued and carried along, which they would have strongly disapproved.
