Anambra Covid-19 cases rise to 177 as four new cases emerge

The Anambra state ministry of health has confirmed four new cases of Covid-19 in the state.

According to a chart published by the ministry today, August 17, 2020, the number of cases confirmed in the state so far totalled 177.

The chart also confirmed that 125 patients have been successfully treated by the state government and discharged home while 18 patients passed on, sadly.

The current community search and sample collection going on in all the LGAs in the state has ensured that community spread of the virus is prevented and contained effectively.

The Covid-19 test centres at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital and General Hospital, Onitsha has equally aided the speedy confirmation of cases for prompt treatment.

Commissioner of Health, Dr Vincent Okpala assures that test and treatment for Covid-19 remains free in Anambra state. “However, early report and treatment translates often to quick and full recovery”, he said.

“Let’s take responsibility today and report for testing when we notice sign and symptoms of Covid-19. It is not time to relax. Rather, we must take heed to observe all health and hygiene protocols carefully”, he concluded.
