Council boss seeks residents support to rid Onitsha of refuse dumps

Residents of Onitsha North Local Government Council in Anambra State have been charged to join hands with the Council and State Government to rid the Onitsha Metropolis of dirts and refuse dumps.

The new Transition committee Chairman of the Council Area, Hon. Onochie Ozoma made the appeal while flagging – off the desilting of gutters/water channels and clearing of the refuse dumps at Ani-Onitsha Junction, along Oseokweodu – Main Market roads.

He emphasized that his administration was determined to flush out all refuse dumps and water channels along the streets and roads in the Council Area.

He warned those trading along the roads to remove their commodities and vehicles from the roads, stressing that the local government taskforce would confiscate any goods or vehicles parked along the roads.

“No stone will be left unturn to make sure that Onitsha is clean. All the market leaders must collaborate with the council and the state government to enforce environmental cleanliness in their various markets as cleanliness is next to Godliness,” he insisted.
