[ANAMBRA] Corpse of slain man yet to be identified month after

The remains of a yet to be identified middle-aged man crushed to death by a commercial bus driver along Oba-Nnewi old Road in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State has been lying in the morgue after the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed who disclosed this in a statement, said the deceased was killed on May 29, 2020 by one Sunday Igwe.

He said corpse was deposited at the gateway mortuary for postmortem Examination and preservation.

He however noted the efforts to locate the relatives of the victim proved abortive since the date of the accident.

He said, “On the 29/5/2020 at about 10:30am, along Oba-Nnewi old Road,a Mitsubishi L300 bus with REG.NO AFZ 71 XA driven by one Sunday Igwe ‘m’ of No:24 Ikwo street Ugwuagba Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State loss control and knocked down a middle aged man whose identity is not yet known.

“As a result, victim became unconscious.

“Police operatives attached to Oba Division visited the scene and rushed victim to the hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor on duty.

“Corpse deposited at the gateway mortuary for postmortem Examination and preservation.

“Meanwhile, the driver was arrested and obstruction cleared to enable free flow of traffic in the area.

“However, efforts to locate the relatives of the victim proved abortive since the date of the accident.

“In view of the foregoing, the Command urged the public whose relations got missing and matched above description to report at Oba Police Station for possible identification and claim of the victim.”
