A 43-year old father, Ikechukwu Ekenta has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 4-year old daughter, at their residence in 3-3 area of Onitsha, Anambra State.
The suspect, a native of Imo state and conductor to a commercial bus was said to have had carnal knowledge of the daughter while the mother was away in the hospital where she had gone to deliver a baby.
The Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs in the state, Lady Ndidi Mezue, reportedly dispatched a team of social workers and another security agency to effect the arrest of the suspect on receiving report of the rape incident through a concerned citizen
The rape reportedly took place few weeks ago after the victim’s mother returned from hospital were she was delivered of a baby girl.
On getting home she discovered that her first daughter was feeling pains in her private parts and demanded to know what happened.
The girl disclosed to her disbelief, that the father had fingered her and also had canal knowledge of her.
A medical examination on the child confirmed that there was penetration and serious injury on the girl’s private parts.
While investigation into what transpired between the man and his biological daughter is still on going, the women and her three daughters have been evacuated where they are being cared for by the State ministry of women and Children Affairs.
