The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Anambra State has assured of adequate security beef up before, during and after the November 6
Gubernatorial Election in the State.
The State Commandant, Vincent Ogu gave the assurance while playing host to an election monitoring group, YIAGA Africa at the State Command Headquarters Awka as part of the organization’s pre-election assessment mission.
He appreciated the delegation for the visit and pledged to work in synergy with other sister security agencies in having free, fair and credible election in the state.
He assured the group of adequate protection of all election observers to enable them carry out their duties effectively.
“We call on citizens and residents alike to support security agencies through credible Intelligence report to avert any form of threat to the conduct of the gubernatorial election,” he added.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Mrs Cynthia Mbamalu informed the State Commandant that the visit was aimed at assessing pre election environment with respect to identifying areas to be strengthened in the conduct of the election.
“We’re here to seek for security coverage from the Corps as a major stakeholder in the forthcoming election,” she said.
While intimating the Corps of their mission in promoting credible, peaceful, and transparent election across the state, Mbamalu revealed that the organization would be deploying 500 observers to polling units spread across all the 21 Local Government Areas in the State.
