AMOTEKUN: The Difference Between Tinubu and Gov Akeredolu

After keeping silent for over three weeks on the controversy surrounding the Amotekun, the All Progressive Congress (APC) National Leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu finally releases his long awaited statement on the issue and trust me when I say I was not surprised with his choice of words. He is very predictable.

Furthermore, I have read the statements credited to both the Chairman of Southwest Governors Forum Governor Akeredolu and Tinubu and I can boldly say that Akeredolu is very bold and more courageous than Tinubu.

Tinubu, obviously was speaking from both sides of his mouth probably to avoid provoking and hurting both his people and his gods in the North whom he completely depends on to make another bold step further in his political career in the nearest future. Therefore he was very choosy and sagacious in his choice of words, so he ended up in his statement rebuking and applauded both sides saying both interested parties could find a common ground to settle their scores even though he knew both perspectives and ideologies are opposite sides.

Whilst Akeredolu stands firm and according to him, he is ready to give up his second term ambition for what he believes in and not ready to be compromised. He went further to query the capacity of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami to query the action taken by the region when he is not the law court. Mr Akeredolu unconsciously reminded Nigeria that he is still a SAN.

What else can a passionate leader do for his people?

To me, the Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has exhibited the qualities of a great leader by being firm, uncompromising and sacrificing of personal ambition for the interests of the entire Yoruba race; Rarely would you see such a politician not from this part of the world.

Lastly, the APC Leader Tinubu in his statement said he had reached out to Southwest Governors Forum and promised to mediate between his people and the Amotekun opposing part, I don’t know how it sounds but I have one word to describe it, Very Pathetic.
