Again, explosion rocks illegal refinery in Delta

One person was reportedly killed while about five others sustained varying degrees of burns after an explosion rocked an illegal refinery in the creeks of Warri River in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday afternoon.

Sources said that the victims were sighted at Warri Miler Jetty as they were rushed to a private hospital in a fast-moving speed boat.

A eyewitnes who would not want his name in print, said that the victims got burnt when fire gutted their local refinery site as they were busy refining petroleum products in the creeks.

Detailed report about the the cause of the explosion and the identities of the victims could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Another source however claimed that some of the victims are from the Northern part of the country.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for confirmation as of the time of filing this report.
