Adamawa NDLEA Parades 21 Drug Dealers

The Adamawa Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has paraded parades 21 suspected drug dealers and confiscated 60.997kg of illicit drugs in its effort to ensure drug free society in the state.

Mohammed Bello, Commander of the agency in the state said, the suspects were arrested in the month of August.

He further said, 18 of the suspects are males while 3 are females, adding that the command will not rest on its oars until the menace is eliminated.

“Even in the face of COVID-19 pandemic, the drug dealers have not had a rethink in their nefarious activities as 21 suspects comprising 18 males and 3 females were arrested with 60.997kg of illicit drugs within one month,” he said.

Bello noted that of utmost concern is the fact that those arrested fall into the age bracket of 18 – 50 years, which is the most active and useful age.

“Most disturbing is the recurring demography of the arrested suspects for the past months. They are between 18 – 50 years age bracket which falls within the nation’s work force population.

” The nation would be having a deficit if the potentials of this demography cannot be harnessed in the socio-economic development of the nation because of their romance with drugs,” he said.

The commander added that currently there are 7 clients all males within 17 – 48 years age bracket undergoing counseling and rehabilitation for substance abuse in the Agency’s Drug Demand Reduction facility adding that to curtail the scenario, the command is vigorously taking Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) to all nooks and crannies of the state targeting the most vulnerable population.

“There are 7 clients all males within 17 – 48 years age bracket currently undergoing counseling and rehabilitation for substance abuse in our drug demand reduction facility.

“The NDLEA has over the years known that young peoples’ attitude towards drug trafficking and abuse demands special attention and that is why the command is taking Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) to all nooks and crannies of the state targeting the most vulnerable population.

” We thank the state governor Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for always obliging the command with necessary impetus and logistics, our sister agencies and the special vigilante group for their immense support in our raid operations in the state,” he maintained.
