Actor Eddie Hassell Dies After Being Shot

Actor Eddie Hassell, in the 2010 Oscar-nominated film “The Kids Are All Right” and the NBC TV show “Surface,” died after he was shot in Texas on Sunday, according to the actor’s representative.

According to his representative, the 30 years old actor was shot Sunday morning in what appeared to be a carjacking, although the incident was still being investigated.

Hassell representative said that Hassell was shot in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

However, circumstances which led to the shooting were not immediately clear.

Hassell played Clay, a pill-snorting teenager, in the 2010 movie “The Kids Are All Right,” and also played Phil Nance on NBC’s science fiction series “Surface,” appearing in 10 episodeslike. He also featured in other movies such as the 2013 Steve Jobs biopic “Jobs,” “Family Weekend” with Kristin Chenoweth and Joey King, “House of Dust,” “Warrior Road” and “Bomb City.” 2017’s Bomb City won the audience award that year for best narrative feature at the Dallas International Film Festival.
