Gov. Hope Uzodimma flags off Imo state waste management agency, equipment

Gov. Hope Uzodimma today has flagged off the Imo State Waste Management Agency and her equipment in line with the 3R mantra Initiative that is aimed at bringing back the lost glory of the state in terms of cleanliness and eco-friendly.

His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma at the event disclosed that his Government went on Public Private partnership to establish a waste recycling plant in Imo State to generate power and organic fertilizers.

“All over the world, waste is wealth” Uzodimma stated.

He also disclosed that the state government has moved to enact a bill for the establishment of a waste management agency in Imo state to officially clean up the state and manage wastes.

The Governor further disclosed that the establishment is needful to save money and create job opportunities in all the Local Government of the state.

The equipment provided by the State Government includes tractors. He also aquire 10,000 waste bins from Innoson motors.

The Governor disclosed that the tractors will be strategically parked at every market in the state as well as the waste bins.

He also made it clear that a mobile court will be set up to try and penalize defaulters of the waste management laws and all those that fails to use the trash bins but litter the streets with their dirts.

The governor charged Imolites to imbibe the habit of cleanliness and disposing their wastes at designated areas to avoid turning the state into a dirt zone and inhabitable.

He encouraged the public to make use of the waste bins to avoid been found wanting.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma however appealed to the management to live up to their responsibilities and ensure speedy disposal of wastes. He added that his administration is ever ready to support the agency in making imo state cleaner.
