Speeding driver escapes death in lone accident in Anambra

A middle aged man, identified as Mr. Nzewi Chidiebere Chukwuemeka narrowly escaped death in a lone accident along Onitsha-Awka express way of Anambra State.

The accident which occurred Opposite a fuel station before Odumodu junction, in Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of the state, involved a Grey Ash Toyota Corolla car.

An eye witness who simply identified herself as Emilia said the crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding.

“The driver was on top speed when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road before crashing into the road side drainage,” she said.

Confirming the incident, Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kamal Musa said the driver was rushed to a nearby hospital by FRSC rescue team from Nteje unit Command.

He said, “One male adult identified as Mr. Nzewi Chidiebere Chukwuemeka was injured in a lone serious crash involving a Grey Ash Toyota Corolla car with registration number NEN 496 RW recorded opposite Mefco fuel station before Odumodu Junction along Onitsha- Awka express way.

“The victim who sustained injury was rushed to Chira hospital Awkuzu, by FRSC rescue team from Nteje unit Command while the vehicle was towed away to ensure free flow of traffic. No life was lost.

“The Sector Commander, FRSC, Andrew Kumapayi while wishing the injured victim an accelerated recovery, strongly warns motorists to desist from over speeding and abide by the speed limits stipulated by law as road traffic crashes are avoidable.”
