7 escape death by a whisker in a multiple auto crash at Obosi bridge

ANAMBRA, Onitsha

No fewer than seven persons have narrowly escaped death in Anambra, following a multiple auto crash that happened at the Obosi bridge axis of the Onitsha – Owerri Road.

The crash which involved three vehicles occurred at about 7:30 am, Tuesday 5th May, 2020 at Obosi Bridge by the round about, along Onitsha-Owerri Expressway.

According to source, the crash occurred after a Trailer with registration number NSR64YQ, conveying bags of cement failed brake and rammed into a M/Benz Tipper with registration number ACA66ZB and a Tricycle with registration number KPP044VC.

The spokesperson for the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who is also the Sector Public Education Officer, RC Pascal A. Anigbo confirmed the incident to THE DAILY VENDOR in a statement.

“A total of Seven (7) people were involved in the crash (all male adults). No injury nor death was recorded. FRSC rescue team from Oraifite Unit Command are on ground controlling traffic, as well as clearing of obstruction caused”.

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi warns drivers against driving above stipulated speed limits. He also reiterates the importance of ensuring that vehicles are checked and serviced regularly, especially the breaking systems, before embarking on any trip.

He also sent strong warning to tricycle riders from operating on the expressway, as this is a direct violation of the Law and defaulters will have to face the penalties.
