3 Killed, Shops Destroyed, In New Lagos Gas Explosion [PHOTO]

No fewer than three persons lost their lives, and another four injured, in a gas shop explosion last night in Lagos.

The explosion happened around 7pm at Inua Mohammed Street, Off Asa-Afariogun Street, Ajao Estate, Isolo.

The deceased included the gas shop owner and a commercial motorcyclist, with some children and neighbors sustaining various degrees of injuries.

This incident happened barely 24 hours after a similar gas explosion killed a man in an estate in Palmgrove, Lagos mainland.

Residents lamented their experiences on social media saying the explosion emanated from an uncompleted building, razing many vehicles and shops.

The DAILY VENDOR gathered that the explosion shattered the woman’s body that rescuers picked the pieces before putting them in a body bag.

Also, officials of the Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Rapid Response Squad (RRS), policemen from Ajao Estate division quickly raced to the scene to extinguish the fire.

According to LASEMA’s Director General Dr. Femi Oke Osanyintolu, two bodies were retrieved from the debris while nine shops were affected in the fire.

“The fire has been extinguished by the combined efforts of LRU fire and Lagos State Fire Service. Two bodies were retrieved within the debris, recovery and retrieval ongoing,” Oke Osanyintolu said.

However, Lagos Police PRO, Mr. Bala Elkana, stated that three persons were killed in the explosion, with four others injured.
