In a swift response to a distress call, police operatives attached to the Nsukka Urban Division of the Enugu State Police Command, in collaboration with law-abiding citizens, have arrested two male armed robbery suspects.
The suspects, identified as Ugwu Ejiofor, 32, and Sunday Ugwuanyi, 26, were apprehended on March 6, 2025, at about 8:40 p.m.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects were riding a Yamaha motorcycle when they accosted a female victim at Obukpa Amebo in Nsukka and robbed her of her bag.
The police quickly sprang into action, tracking down the suspects and recovering several exhibits, including a locally made double-barreled pistol loaded with one live cartridge, an ATM card, two mobile phones, and the Yamaha motorcycle used in the crime.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been terrorizing the area, and their arrest is seen as a major breakthrough in the police’s efforts to curb crime in the state.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
