Enugu Police Score Big in Fight Against Crime

The Enugu State Police Command has made significant strides in its efforts to ensure a safe and crime-free yuletide season.

In multiple operations, the Command has arrested two male armed robbery suspects and recovered five firearms, two live cartridges, a snatched tricycle, and other incriminating items.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the first arrest was made on November 22, 2024, when police operatives from the Abakpa Division arrested Daniel Aniude, 29, while he was robbing a female victim. An imitation pistol was recovered during the operation.

In another operation on November 12, 2024, operatives from the Nkanu East Division arrested Uzor David, 25, after he snatched a tricycle and shot the tricyclist in the hand. A locally made pistol was recovered, and the injured victim is receiving treatment.

Furthermore, on December 10, 2024, police operatives from the Emene Division foiled an armed robbery attempt, recovering a locally made pistol and an expended cartridge. Two days earlier, on December 2, 2024, operatives from the Abakpa Division thwarted another armed robbery attempt, recovering a locally made pistol and two live cartridges.

Additionally, on December 6, 2024, police operatives from the Enugu Metro Area Command discovered a Beretta pistol hidden in a sack containing cassava flakes at Abakpa Junction Bus Stop.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to making Enugu State unsafe for criminals throughout the yuletide season and beyond. He urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and proactive in supporting the police with credible information and intelligence.
