Group praises Onitsha kingdom for preservation of cultural heritage

National Association of Seadogs Onitsha Chapter, Anambra State had commended the rich cultural heritage of Onitsha kingdom from pre-historic time till date.

President of the Association, Engr Ben Agbala gave the commendation while presenting a portrait to the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe during the recent 2024 Ofala celebrations.

He described Onitsha as a town known for preservation and sustainance of her rich and diverse culture.

He traced Onitsha origin from the Edo kingdom with diverse cultural heritage and affiliations, saying Onitsha kingdom has become the home of many tribes which over the years co-existed peacefully among themselves.

“Onitsha is a town known for preservation and sustainance of her rich and diverse culture which stands her out as an ancient kingdom.

“Onitsha kingdom has become the home of many tribes and has over the years co-existed peacefully among themselves,” he stated.

Responding, Igwe Achebe commended the group and appreciated its efforts over the years, including sending goodwill messages during his Ofala festival.
