BREAKING: Tinubu Sacks Newly Appointed Unizik Vice Chancellor Odoh

President Bola Tinubu has dissolved the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University UNIZIK in Awka, Anambra State, and removed the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bernard Ifeanyi Odoh, and Registrar, Mrs. Rosemary Ifoema Nwokike.

The decision follows reports of irregularities in the council’s appointment process, which allegedly disregarded due procedure.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, the Federal Government intervened to address tensions between the university’s Senate and the Governing Council.

Additionally, Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami was removed as Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences in Otukpo, Benue State, due to illegal actions and refusal to comply with Ministry directives.

President Tinubu warned university councils to prioritize smooth operations and avoid distractions, emphasizing his administration’s focus on enhancing the country’s education standards.
