Anambra Police Foil Criminal Plots, Arrest Suspects

The Anambra State Police Command has dealt a significant blow to criminal elements in the state, arresting two suspects and recovering a large quantity of gunpowder and firearms.

In the first operation, a joint security force intercepted a suspect transporting three bags of garri (cassava flakes) concealing a large quantity of gunpowder in Aguata on September 22. The suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, was en route to deliver groceries and gunpowder to a criminal camp for producing improvised explosives.

In another operation, operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) raided a criminal hideout in Oba Idemili South LGA in the early hours of September 25. They arrested Nelson Wisdom, from Etsako East, Edo State, and recovered a locally-made pistol with two live ammunition.

Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, commended the operatives and reassured that the police and other security agencies will continue to act on intelligence to frustrate criminal plans in the state.

“The Command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that Anambra remains safe and secure for all,” CP Itam stated.

The suspects will face charges upon conclusion of investigations.

This development demonstrates the commitment of the Anambra State Police Command to combating crime and ensuring public safety.
