Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has restated the commitment of Prof Chukwuma Soludo led administration towards encouraging any organization with activities targeted at empowering youths in the state with skills.
Speaking when a delegation from the Agulu Peoples Union (APU) Vocational Academy Limited visited her office to solicit the collaboration of the Ministry on skill acquisition, the Commissioner commended management of Academy for its vision of raising skilled youth generation, assuring of Ministry’s partnership.
“We commend you for this very wonderful initiative. We will partner with you to ensure more youths in the state are gainfully empowered, she said.
Earlier, Director of the Academy, Dr Duezeh Emmanuel Jnr. who was accompanied on the visit by footwear instructor, Erondu Kingsley said the Academy, established last year has been training youths on no fewer than ten areas of vocational skills.
He listed the skills to include nylon making, footwear, bags, baking confectionery, electrical, plumbing, tailoring, hairdressing, furniture, among others.
He said, “We run different vocations, some within the school and others outside. The Town Union pays for the training which runs for a year and six months after which trainees will sit for exams.
“We have about ten courses on the whole and we’re here to see how we can partner with the Ministry in skills acquisition for youths in the state.
“October 25th is our grand opening of the Centre which will feature induction of the students.”
