Nigerian Army Smashes Oil Vandals in Niger Delta, Neutralizes 2, arrests 18

The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has dealt a significant blow to oil vandals in the Niger Delta region, neutralizing two armed vandals and arresting 18 suspects in a recent crackdown.

According to a statement issued by Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Danjuma, the operation resulted in destruction of 13 illegal refining sites, confiscation of over 60,000 liters of stolen products, recovery of two AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, and 69 rounds of ammunition, deactivation of seven boats and eight illegal connection points.

The successful operation followed credible intelligence on a pipeline vandalism attempt in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. Troops swiftly responded, engaging the vandals in a gun duel.

General Officer Commanding, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, commended the troops and reassured that the division would continue to sustain operations across the Niger Delta.

This intensified effort aims to protect Nigeria’s oil and gas resources and ensure national security.
